as october comes to a close, I thought I might share the book I read this month along with the books I’m interested in reading for the remainder of october and into november.
in the mouth of madness; a novelization by christian francis (of echo on publishing)
yes, you should read this. a cosmic horror that follows our main character trent as he navigates the real world as it turns into a fictional world written by the horror writer sutter cane. a must read for fans of the movie. for those unfamiliar, my personal preference is watching the movie first then reading the novelization. either way, you’ll love this story.
books I’m planning on sampling
so for these books, I’m going to read the first chapter or two just to gauge if I like the writing, story, characters enough to continue. I’ve narrowed it down to:
- the shining, stephen king
- the staircase in the woods, chuck wendig
- the pillars of the earth, ken follett
- wizard’s first rule, terry goodkind
my list of reads for the end of this month and november is wildly all over the place. the staircase in the woods is my top pick since it sounds so strange and creepy. definitely up my alley.
the shining feels like a quintessential read as halloween is right around the corner. but seeing as though I’ve read it before and saw the movie, the story isn’t anything new.
the pillars is a book I’ve been meaning to read for years. I just need to be in the right head space to give it my full attention.
wizard’s first rule is my second pick. the few chapters I’ve read so far have been good and interesting. plus, I’ll never turn down a super long classic, epic fantasy.
so I’m going to read a bit of each of these books and make a follow up post for anyone out there interested.
