what I’m reading

I’ve been trying to diversify my reading lately but it seems sci fi and fantasy keeps dominating my choices. so, here are the three books I’ve been reading so far and plan to complete before the new year.

dungeon crawler carl, matt dinniman, 464 pages

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman sets an LitRPG adventure within an intergalactic reality show. Aliens transform Earth into a vast dungeon. Carl, a former Coast Guard officer, and Princess Donut, a cat, navigate this survival game

I actually read the first chapter of this book while browsing in barnes and noble the other day. it’s the first book I ever read a complete chapter of inside a bookstore. it’s fast paced and super fun and right up my alley for the kind of book to get me out of my reading slump.

green rider, kristen britain, 481 pages

The series follows the adventures of a young woman named Karigan G’ladheon. Initially a reluctant messenger who becomes a “Green Rider”—a legendary messenger for the king of Sacoridia—Karigan is drawn into a world of magic, danger, and political intrigue.

a more classical fantasy story (and series) that I felt I needed in my life. something where there is good that overcomes the bad. simple and straightforward but has enough lore to keep me interested.

the snowball effect, haley cass, 506 pages

A sapphic romance about two former enemies, Regan and Emma, who are forced to live together as roommates.

I’m a sucker for romcom movies. so when I discovered haley cass and that all her books are essentially lesbian romcoms, I had to begin reading them all. after reading and loving two of her books, I thought the next one should be fitting for a winter, cozy read.

my plan is to finish all of these by december 31st and then come back here to write about them. as long as I read some amount every day, I should be able to accomplish this goal of mine.
